Fractomed, een geavanceerde spalktechniek
Fractomed wordt geactiveerd met stoom.
Het materiaal wordt in de stoombak gelegd, na enige minuten is het volledig zacht en kan het worden verwerkt.
Het materiaal heeft dan een voor de patiënt aangename temperatuur.
Het gebruik van een rondgeweven verband en bescherming van de drukplaatsen door watten blijft wenselijk.
Met behulp van een elastische zwachtel wordt Fractomed in de gewenste vorm gebracht.
Reeds na enkele minuten herkrijgt het materiaal zijn rigiditeit en wordt vormvast.
Kleine correcties kunnen worden aangebracht door plaatselijk stoom toe te dienen.
Fractomed is een speciaal voor medische toepassing ontwikkeld PVA-product (polyvinylalcolhol).
Fractomed heeft de volgende eigenschappen en voordelen, vergeleken met gips of eerdere kunststofproducten:
- Is hypo-allergeen
- Laat een gode ventilatie toe (is ‘ademend’)
- Is stoot- en breukvast
- Weegt slechts 1/10 van gips
- Is zonder knoeien te verwerken en laat geen rommel na
- Kan tijdens de verwerking zeer nauwkeurig in vorm worden gebracht
- Is uiterst vormvast na verwerking
- Kan worden gezaagd, geknipt, geboord en geslepen met behoud van de materiaal-essentie
- Is moeiteloos te verwijderen
- Is röntgenindifferent
- Is in diverse afmetingen verkrijgbaar in plaatvorm, longuettes en als voorgevormde arm- en beenschelpen
